One cord per category

This is a month in KipuApp: every category with its total, largest first. In the app it's a column chart that folds away to make room for the list of transactions.

A quipu was a knotted cord used for keeping accounts in the Andes: each cluster of knots is a digit, and how high it sits tells you whether it counts ones, tens or hundreds. Home has no knots at the bottom because that's the zero in 240. Sample figures.

Log an expense in two taps

The amount, the category, and not much else. KipuApp handles the repetitive part.

  • Categories with their emoji, plus merchant, tags and a note.
  • It remembers which category you gave a merchant and suggests it next time.
  • Every transaction carries its own currency, picked from the ones in your account.

Logged the moment you pay

The best-logged expense is the one you never had to log.

  • KipuApp ships a Shortcuts action, Registrar gasto, taking merchant, amount, currency, note and budget.
  • You build an automation that fires on every Apple Pay payment and hands it the merchant and the amount.
  • The transaction lands without opening the app, and KipuApp works out the category from the merchant.
A Shortcuts automation: when a Wallet card is used to pay, it runs KipuApp's Registrar gasto action with the transaction's merchant and amount.

A limit per category

You decide how much you want to spend on something and KipuApp keeps count.

  • A budget on any category, over the period you set.
  • See what you've spent and what's left without leaving the category.
  • Change it or drop it whenever the month says so.
